Apprentice Carpenter

Apprentice carpenters assist other team members by maintaining jobsite cleanliness, moving and stacking materials, assisting in framing and other carpentry duties as needed under supervision of skilled team members.

Job Requirements:

  • Valid drivers license and reliable transportation.
  • Ability to safely operate power tools.
  • Experience in carpentry or related trades a plus.
  • Must own or be able to acquire personal hand tools including: hammer, 25′ tape measure, speed square, razor knife, nail puller, torpedo level, screw drivers, flat bar and chalk box.
  • Must be able to climb ladders and work at heights as needed.
  • Must be able to repeatedly lift heavy weights of 50+ pounds.
  • Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Must be able to speak, read, write and understand English language.

Job Type: Full-time / Part-time
Pay: $15.00+ per hour based on experience

Journeyman Carpenter

Journeyman Carpenters work, as part of a crew or independently, under the direction of a lead carpenter to perform daily job tasks and meet the high quality standards of Solstice Builders. Daily tasks may include framing, interior or exterior trim, window and door installation, decking, handrail installation, siding, etc. Must be able to climb ladders, repeatedly lift heavy tools and materials, be able to safely and properly use common hand and power tools, and be able to work independently and as part of a team.

Job Requirements:

  • 5+ years experience.
  • Valid drivers license and reliable transportation.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to climb ladders and work at heights as needed.
  • Must be able to repeatedly lift heavy tools and materials of 50+ pounds.
  • Must be able to safely and properly use common hand and power tools.
  • Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong carpentry skills including framing, siding, interior and exterior trim, decking and handrails, window and door installation.
  • Knowledge of NC and Brunswick county building codes is helpful.
  • Must be able to speak, read, write and understand English language.

Lead Carpenter

The Lead Carpenter is responsible for overseeing and implementing daily on site production goals as determined by job Superintendent. Leads a team of 2-6 carpenters. Works closely with Superintendent and client, to ensure the job stays on schedule and within Solstice Builders quality standards. Daily duties will include leading a team of up to 6 carpenters in a variety of production tasks including framing, interior or exterior trim, window and door installation, siding, decking, hand rail installation, etc. Must be able to climb ladders, repeatedly lift heavy tools and materials, be able to safely and properly use common hand and power tools.

Job Requirements:

  • 10+ years experience.
  • Valid drivers license and reliable transportation.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Must be able to professionally and effectively communicate with co-workers and clients.
  • Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Must be able to climb ladders and work at heights as needed.
  • Must be able to repeatedly lift heavy tools and materials of 50+ pounds
  • Must be able to safely and properly use common hand and power tools.
  • Ability to read and understand building plans.
  • Ability to lead up to a 6 person crew
  • Strong carpentry skills including framing, siding, interior and exterior trim, decking and hand rails, window and door installation.
  • Strong knowledge of North Carolina and Brunswick County building codes.
  • Must be able to speak, read, write and understand English language.

Administrative Director / Development Services Coordinator

Solstice Builders is a leader in Truly Custom residential construction in the Southport, Oak Island, Caswell Beach, Bald Head Island and St James communities of Brunswick County, NC. We are seeking an outgoing, organized, and highly detail-oriented professional to join our team as Administrative Director / Development Services Coordinator.

This role requires a self-motivated individual with a strong background in business management, project management, and construction permitting. The ideal candidate will be adept at working in a fast-paced environment and handling multiple tasks with accuracy, superb communication, exceptional attention to detail, and a positive attitude. Job duties will include liaising with clients, employee onboarding/offboarding, oversight of office team, maintaining company insurance and licensing, budgeting, debt collection, acquiring HOA approvals, building, zoning, CAMA and other project specific permits, municipality relations, project budget oversight, and a variety of other clerical and customer service tasks as needed. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Adobe Acrobat, QuickBooks Pro Desktop, and Microsoft SharePoint as well as general computer skills are required.

This is an in-person position requiring work in our Southport, NC office. Candidates must be able to sit, bend, kneel, and stand as needed ad to work at a desk for extended periods in an office setting. Must be able to work at a computer for prolonged periods, and must be able to speak, read, and write fluently in English. Must be able to occasionally lift heavy items up to 40 lbs. and comfortably use various office appliances and equipment as necessary. Candidates must also possess a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and be able to travel independently to multiple locations throughout the day as needed.

Hours are generally Monday – Friday 8am to 4pm. However, some early mornings and evenings may be required from time to time.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Client Liasson – Customer service point of contact for all communication and billing related matters including budget reconciliations, producing final estimated costs, and debt collection as well as final homeowners’ packets, warranty information, etc.
  • Answering phone and emails and directing all communications to the appropriate team member
  • Weekly project budget meetings with Superintendents
  • Maintain all corporate insurance and licenses
  • Budgeting and financial oversight
  • Employee onboarding / offboarding
  • Oversee office staff
  • Acquire all project specific insurance, approvals, and permits
  • Manage, maintain, print, and communicate project plans, documents, and files to all stakeholders
  • Municipality relations
  • Perform other clerical and administrative tasks as needed

Essential Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, construction management or related field
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in business administration and construction permitting
  • Must be able to learn to read and understand architectural and engineered plans, surveys and other construction related documents
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, QuickBooks Pro Desktop, Adobe Acrobat, SharePoint and basic computer operations
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation are required

Salary:
Starting at $26.44 per hour
